Multirow Bookmarks Toolbar - About time this came along!

The bookmarks toolbar is one of the sweetest inventions since the well-paying job. I use it compulsively. The only problem has been that it only has a single row, then a drop-down list at the end. Now this sweetener has emerged and I say, It's about time! (PS: The real thing looks a lot better than the screenshot, but I didn't want to post my own toolbar.)

CloneSpy - Ferret out duplicate files that waste space

There can't be many reasons why you'd need multiple copies of the exact same file on one drive. In fact I can't think of any. So why do you have them? You don't? How do you know? Find them and remove them with this free app. Developer description:

"Do you often download files from the Internet? Is your hard drive crowded with these files? Have you ever asked yourself which files you have downloaded more than once? Perhaps you have burned files to a CD and retrieved them again? Do you want to find these files and eliminate the duplicates? Maybe you want to find duplicate files without checking your entire collection of backup CDs every time? Then CloneSpy is the right tool for you!

What can CloneSpy do?

CloneSpy can help you free up hard drive space by detecting and removing duplicate files. Duplicate files have exactly the same contents regardless of their name, date, time and location. Also, CloneSpy is able to find files that are not exactly identical, but have the same file name. Perhaps you have different versions of a file and you want to find all of them and remove the older versions. CloneSpy can also find zero length files. These are files that have no content."

emailcover.com - Hide your email address in a captcha

The term CAPTCHA stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart." A CAPTCHA simply hides letters and numbers in an image that computers have difficulty reading, but that humans can (usually) recognize. This site will transform your email address into a CAPTCHA-like image in order to hide it from computer bots. From the developer:

"Emailcover.com provides this free service which hides your email address in a CAPTCHA image to help prevent spam email being sent to your email address. This dynamically created image never looks exactly the same, making it just a little harder for spam bots!"

OrangeNote - A must-have text-clipping productivity enhancer!

Barry's Best works hard every day, raking through the dusty soil of the Internet, to find Internet tools and applications that you will find useful. Some get me more excited than others, and this is one of those.

I frequently find that I can get more done faster if I save text clippings for repetitive use, and especially if the means of finding and pasting them is simple and efficient. This application has these attributes. From the developer:

"A full-text index means instant retrieval and as-you-type results. No more scouring your hard disk for the famous Lost Text File. Plus, the ability to quickly insert text clippings into any application using custom key combos is great for email, web forms, customer service, developers, gamers, you name it!

OrangeNote even keeps a fully automatic history of all clipboard activity on your computer (without slowing it down) so you can keep track of everything you've copied. Click an icon beside a previous clipping to instantly set it as the active clipboard, or use one of the 10 built-in hotkeys for pasting previous copies.

OrangeNote works great as a text backup utility, too. For example, if you're writing out a lengthy reply or post to a web page and want to make sure you don't accidentally lose what you've written (it's happened to me!), just copy it to the clipboard! It's as simple as that—OrangeNote will make sure a copy of it is kept safe and sound in its index. Each time you copy, a new note will be created so you can never accidentally copy over the text on the clipboard."

Anyone who's a been using computers for longer than a 3-minute egg takes to cook is going to be asked for help from friends and relatives. That's a general law of physics.
