Other blogs all give you the top 5 or top 11 or top 37.5 best whatevers. I give you the top ONE Firefox add-on! It has to be IE Tab, an add-on I use and use often.
People can go nuts with Firefox add-ons, installing so many that they quickly forget what you have. But IE Tab is useful for those times when you want to open a web page in IE, either because it doesn't render well in the Mozilla engine, or because you want to run a setup file without saving it to your hard drive, something IE does that Firefox doesn't.
